beachbum25 (603), Powellville, Maryland, USA Apr 12, 2008 22 oz bomber-trade w/snojerk321 (I think!)-pours a cloudy amber color w/a big, foamy head & good lacing. Roasted malt aroma. Full malt flavor w/roasted nuts, toffee, dark fruit, & caramel. Kind of a sweet flavor to it. Easy drinking, sesson type brew, very smooth. Somewhat bitter finish; no trace of hops at all.
Sledge Jr (2720), Omaha, Nebraska, USA May 26, 2008 In the bottle from HyVee CB. Pours a dark reddish amber- nearly brown with a large yellow-beige head. Strong roasted nut aroma. Fig flavors blend into a mild malty palate. Finishes with the scent-inspired nuttiness. Very malty body. Excellent rings of lacing form. No infection in my bottle as mentioned recently by others. rayOfBeer (265), El Cerrito, California, USA May 21, 2008 Poured from tap at Marin brewing a clear brown with medium beige head with low carbonation. Soft aroma of toast, malt and a little floral fruitiness. Flavor is apricot, sweet caramel, toast, malt, with some fresh hops coming out in the aftertaste. This beer has a big malty feel to it with very little bitterness. Overall a nice amber. I would drink this one again. DYCSoccer17 (2040), Davis, California, USA Oct 27, 2007 22 ounce bottle purchased at BevMo in Natomas, CA. Awkward aroma with some weird, sweet, fruity, berry-like notes. Smells a bit infected. Mostly transparent amber colored body with a an overly large frothy off-yellow head and nice lacing. There is clearly some infection here. Sour start before it becomes malty with a shitload of coffee malts in the end. Roasted malts too. Too bad there is some infection here, because this is probably a really good beer. I will need to try this again. robertjm (240), El Cerrito, California, USA Sep 15, 2007 Pours an EXTREMELY frothy head. LOTS of carbonation. Amazing amount of carbonation!! Hoppy aroma with background of crytal malt. Lots of malty flavors. Perhaps a bit of citrusy undertones too. Light body. Malt on the palate in the aftertaste. This could be a good lawnmower beer, except for the aftertaste.
