Sampled at the second annual Bistro’s West Coast Barrel Aged Beer Fest: Pours a transparent dark copper orange with a wispy-lacing spotty off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramely bourbon with an oaky semi-tart light fruity complexity. Body starts rich and slightly cloying caramely biscuity sweet with some fresh oaky bourbon vanilla notes. Finishes with a touch of tartness and sweet warmth. A decent brew.

Tap at the Bistro BA Fest. The 2006 quad. Pours darkish brown with no head. Nice chocolate, malt and sour aromas. Medium plus body with thick, cramy carbonation. Flavor is dark malt with dark fruit. Finishes dark and fruity, with wonderful quad aspects.

Sampled during RBSG 7/11/2009 on tap at the brewery. This quad pours a dark brown color from tap. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet with a touch of bourbon and wood. A medium bodied quad. The malts are fruity and sweet, with a touch of oak and perhaps a hint of funk. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Very sweet finish. I can’t really notice and Brett. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet with some alcohol bite.

On tap at Bistro BA Fest poured a hazy brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of dark fruit, oak, toffee and ligh bourbon. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a smooth finish. Flavors of dark fruit, oak, bourbon, carmel and toffee with a smooth lightly sweet finish.

Draft. Rich copper beer with a light tan head. Light bourbon and rich malt aroma. Sweet caramel flavor with bourbon and a bit of dried fruit/fig. Very light yeast if any. Medium body. Sweet caramel and bourbon lingers. No real Belgian characteristics stand out - it’s much more like a makers mark and coke. I don’t think this version had any brett added (Marin barrel night at Toronado).
