Commercial Description:
"White Knuckle Ale" is a Double India Pale Ale. That's right, twice the malt and twice the hops in one 14 barrel batch. It is named in honor of the exciting bike trail on Mt. Tam. If you are a "hophead", this one's for you; fat, chewy, resiny and pungent! Pour into a wide-mouthed glass and get ready to rip!

Pours orange. Nose is BIG dank hops, citrus, grapefruit, grapes, sweet malts, sweet oranges and lemons. Flavor is sticky resinous pine, sweet grapfruits with sugar, bitter lemon, toasted malts, toffe and caramel. Awesome offering from Marin.

Wonderful pine, grapefruit, lemon aroma. Pours slightly cloudy orange, carbonated, with a quickly disappearing off white head. Smooth as silk. Sweet citrus and pine, lingering hop finish. Mouthfeel has a resin like quality. This is world class - if you’re a beer geek don’t pass up a chance to give this a try.

Bomber. Color is dark amber-orange with nice creamy lacing. Pine, oranges, sweet grapefruit juice. Flavor starts with a hit of perfumy hops, fresh lemon-lime, sweet tangerine. A lot of resiny hop flavors, clearly over-the-top and proud of it. Essence on tongue is tingly and syrupy with long-lasting stickiness. Medium in mouthfeel. The overall flavor of this beer is hoppy but sweet, with a bit of dried apricot and mango notes developing late. Nice balance of big flavors, definitely a quality DIPA.

Terrific piney aroma, with some floral notes and grapefruit. Taste is smooth with nice malt backbone and not too bitter. In my opinion, it’s the best brew from Marin that I’ve had.

Pours a slightly hazy copper with medium head. Aroma is pine and citrus hops with a sugary malt background. This is definitely one hoppy beer, but sweet malt balances almost too well. The malt profile is almost a little too syrupy sweet for my liking, but it’s still very enjoyable. The hop flavors in my bottle don’t "pop" as much as I’d like, and it makes me wonder if this one sat on the shelf for a little while (It was like $13/bottle and hidden behind a pole). The bitterness is there in spades, but the hop flavors just don’t measure up.

Bottle at the release of Flaming Fury courtesy of Dennis who never ceases to bring tasty gems from all over. Pours a clear orange color. Pineapple and huge citrus notes. A bit sweet with a nice caramel note before leading into a brutally bitter grapefruit and quinine finish. This was really good.

Bottle shared at Moosetoberfest. Poured a super hazed orange/amber with a soapy white head. Aroma bitter rotting citrus, fermenting white grapes, grainy cereal and crusty bread. Flavor is celery up front followed by caramel, sweet bread and rotting citrus fruit. The body was 3Fs....fizzy, foamy and full. No Sir I was very underwhelmed by this one.

22 oz bottle shared generously by footbalm. A really nice nose; the first thing I though was "man, this smells like amazing weed", piny and very perfumy hops. The flavor is similar; a strong hop profile, not aggressive citrus and bitter hops, but more perfume-like, piny hops, Smooth and chewy. A lot of fruit as well, but more of a tropical fruit. Easy to drink.
