Commercial Description:
"White Knuckle Ale" is a Double India Pale Ale. That's right, twice the malt and twice the hops in one 14 barrel batch. It is named in honor of the exciting bike trail on Mt. Tam. If you are a "hophead", this one's for you; fat, chewy, resiny and pungent! Pour into a wide-mouthed glass and get ready to rip!

On tap @ 2007 GABF poured a clear gold with a lasting amber head. Aromas of pine, grapefruit, light carmel and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of grapefruit, pine, light earthiness and light carmel with a smooth lingering bitter finish.

Very hoppy, just the way I like it. Thick and chewy, tastes like chewing on hops. Almost stings the tounge.

Bottle provided by some guy in Kansas. Poured amber with fluffy off white head. Aroma of hops and citrus. Nice hop kick to start with some citrus and pine in the finish. Crisp and refreshing.

Bomber, courtesy of AgentSteve (Thanks Steve!). Pours a clear copper with a pillowy two finger tan head; good retention and great lacing. Aroma is a nose full of grapefruit, with some background additional citrus and light pine. Flavor is a nice hoppy bite, but it seems to disappear quite abruptly. A touch of caramel maltiness on the finish, but overall a bit disappointing in the flavor. Palate is medium-high carbonation with an oily mouthfeel. Kind of a split between aroma/appearance and flavor/palate on this one. Overall a decent DIPA but not stellar...

Pours a resin like amber with a fluffy head that dissipates to light lacing. A beautiful looking beer. Aroma is hoppy with some pine and a little caramel. Flavor is full of hops and not as piney. Very well balanced by caramel malt. It has a bitter finish that lingures. Good beer.

Sooooooooo Great!!!! This is the best IPA ever, as far as I am concerned. Huge hop explosion - but well defined, not just a random flavor. Marin is #1. I had to buy a couple of case at the brewpub last time I saw it. have not seen it in a while now.
