Pours a clear copper with a pillowy two finger tan head; good retention and great lacing. Aroma is a nose full of grapefruit, with some background additional citrus and light pine. Flavor is a nice hoppy bite, but it seems to disappear quite abruptly. A touch of caramel maltiness on the finish, but overall a bit disappointing in the flavor. Palate is medium-high carbonation with an oily mouthfeel. Kind of a split between aroma/appearance and flavor/palate on this one. Overall a decent DIPA but not stellar... A beautiful looking beer. Aroma is hoppy with some pine and a little caramel. Flavor is full of hops and not as piney. Very well balanced by caramel malt. It has a bitter finish that lingures. Good beer. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

Huge hop explosion - but well defined, not just a random flavor. Marin is #1. I had to buy a couple of case at the brewpub last time I saw it. have not seen it in a while now. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Aroma of citrus, pine, floral and whatever hop. It’s hoppy. Translucent color of ripe apricot flesh. Beige head that quickly ringed and laced. Medium bodied. Definitely carbonated. Malt caramel sweetness for sure, and it’s overbalanced by hop of citrus and resin that burn. The finish is kind of the same thing, though much reduced in intensity. It’s unpasteurized, so it’s at least semi-real. Mayhap it does get better than this, so when you find it, please let me know. They serve this one in heaven. Aroma is a big and sweet floral-grass hop monster that is very enticing. Taste is flowery and sweet with plenty of thick hops and just enough malt backing. A high quality DIPA. pivo (2537), Germany
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 1, 2007 High resolution hop nose, deep amber color, creamy head. Deep warm round malt body that hold its ground and adds a little sweetness to the flavor profile. Big burst of grassy hops takes over at the end. You get a whaff of alcohol in the swallow. Then comes a lingering gritty bitter end on the back of the roof of the mouth. Cool stuff.
