Commercial Description:
"White Knuckle Ale" is a Double India Pale Ale. That's right, twice the malt and twice the hops in one 14 barrel batch. It is named in honor of the exciting bike trail on Mt. Tam. If you are a "hophead", this one's for you; fat, chewy, resiny and pungent! Pour into a wide-mouthed glass and get ready to rip!

Bomber shared by HogtownHarry. Dark amber body witha big fluffy beige head (4+). Three sniffs of the aroma yield three very different results. Intriguing. Lychee? Muter citrus. Light notes of soap and hint of something that I can only describe as rotting vegetables, but not in a bad way which is a bit bizarre! Very light alcohol presence. Moderate bitterness grows as the glass goes on, very muted orange citrus, light resin notes. Bit boozey in the finish as it warms. Extremely muted notes of caramel malt. (6+) Average but smooth palate. Speculation around the table was that it might pack more of a punch in a younger bottle. (this was a couple months old)

Bottle from Ledgers; Nose of floral, pine, and citrus hops; hazy copper with a medium off-white head; flavor is very hoppy without being overly bitter, showing the hops lasting into a nice smooth bitter finish.

bottle from Tever. Hazy orange color with massive tan head. Aroma of citrus hops and bread. The taste is very good. Smooth bitter hop and malt balance. As this beer warms the bitterness is more pronouned. The mouthfull is very smooth and mildly sweet. Glad I got a chance to try this one. Thanks, Tom

Bottle courtesy of stoutlover72. Thanks Garrett! Slightly blurry orange-amber with a soft, tightly packed tan froth on the surface. Nose is very resinous and piney with citrus oils, orange peel and grapefruit juice in a backing role. Taste is essentially the same - resinous, oily hops, pine sap, pine needles, grapefruit juice, orange peel and essence of citrus. There’s are a nice malty sweetness in there as well. Some chewy caramel notes too! Body is medium-full, oily, chewy in spots, creamy carbonation and a lingering bitterness. Ends with more coniferous flavors, citrus fruits, chewy malts and mild sweetness. Nice big West Coast IIPA. Yummy!

On tap at Toronado in a tulip glass. Opaque reddish amber color, khaki head that left a uniform layer of lacing on the glass, cool effect. Aroma is BAM! intense, it’s saying "get ready for this you weakling", lots of citrus and pine. Taste is of creamy caramel malt, alcohol covered up by chewy sweetness, big bitterness at the end, almost hard to swallow. Not much carbonation, almost syrupy at times. Hophead central...
