| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 20, 2006 Nice reddish light brown body with an amazing nest of a head that is a pale yellow and creamy as all get out. Aroma is hoppy bliss. Rich grass and dripping pine resin. This smells amazing, like sticking your head in the hop freezer at the homebrew shop, decadent. So damn hopped up it made me twinge, I liked it; no beer has made me twinge in a good way before. An amazing layered flavor of spicy grass, pine, and sugars. A palate killer for sure, but it dies happy. Happiness is Paul Simon coming out of the speakers a nice relaxing piece of fiction in front of me and this beer. At 1:32 a.m. on a Sunday after making some solid bank at work and unwinding. Damn this is good and has a nice mouth feel that is slick and oily but enveloping and prickly on my tongue but still a bit smooth in its own way. Vanilla sweetness with some sherbet and ice cream notes dance around here. Liquid hops pure and simple and just delicious. This actually leaves my mouth numb. I love it.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 13, 2006 Bottled. Clear amber, small head. Peachy hop aroma. Sweaty & salty, fruity and lightly syrupy. Medium, bodied with thick mouthfeel. Really bitter finish. Too simplistic malt profile to catch my attention. droopy49 (97), Lancaster, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 11, 2006 22oz bottle poured into a duvel glass. Poured a deep copper color w/ a fluffy white head. The aroma was probably the best part of the experience. It was a nasal bouquet of hops with citrus, pine, and grassy notes. The flavor had a great hop profile, but not as complex as other iipa’s I have tasted. Good malt flavor to balance out the beer, excellent double IPA. Oakes (8139), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 11, 2006 Vibrant amber colour with a bit of haze. Rich, chewy flavour and thick body. The bitterness is fairly mellow. There is a bright, peachy, fruitiness in the aroma. Aside from the shocking brightness of the aroma, a fairly standard example of the style. It’s thick and creamy, but the flavor is bitter hops, just how I love it. It has the floral and pine intensity, with the ever slight pepper and tea hint. The flavor lasts and lasts. I think I’m a double IPA fan!
Rerated March 24, 2008. Lowered from 4.6 to 4.1. My original score was early into my DIPA journey. grant (792), Colorado Springs, CO, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2006 Very resinous and aromatic. Fine lace on a peachy brown body. Aroma is slightly weedy, with some skittely fruitiness. Very smooth, creamy flavor with little perceptible bitterness. Flavor is "hot" with some spicy bitterness, some sagey notes, moderate citrus, and fairly strong pine. Finishes pleasantly with some alcoholic warming notes. Overall, very nice. Fairly similar to Hopsicle, another good IIPA. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jan 25, 2006 White Knuckle Ale pours to a beautiful, bright, deep amber color with thick and creamy off white head that chases the beer down to the end of the glass, and a good bit of carbonation. The nose on this beer just bursts with citric and piney waves of hop aromas. Hops dominate the nose, but they are not alone, there is a nice back drop of some fruity esters, and slight hints of alcohol strength. The palate is fat and chewy on the tongue with good pale and caramel malt flavors, paired with some nice estery fruit, and resiny hop flavor. White Knuckle then finishes with an intense, piney and resiny hop bitterness that tattoos the tongue and lingers for quite some time.
This is an awesome "Double IPA" with big hop aromas, flavors, and bitterness, paired with a big smack of malt sweetness, some good estery fruit, and a good punch of alcohol. White Knuckle is an intensely hoppy beer, and what I like to call a "hop cocktail".

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 23, 2006 This is the one I’ve been searching for. Pours copper orange, with a thick tan head. Pine, resin, hops, with no citrus in the aroma. The taste is huge. Hops with more hops, but balanced by the malt to let you taste the resin and caramel. An instant favorite.
