Commercial Description:
"White Knuckle Ale" is a Double India Pale Ale. That's right, twice the malt and twice the hops in one 14 barrel batch. It is named in honor of the exciting bike trail on Mt. Tam. If you are a "hophead", this one's for you; fat, chewy, resiny and pungent! Pour into a wide-mouthed glass and get ready to rip!

Got this in a trade with DarkElf. Pours a cloudy dark amber brown with a rocky off-white head. Aroma is pure hop and pine bliss. Taste is pretty sweet with strong notes of pine, resin, hops, grapefruit/citrus and some bready qualities. Bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is full and round but not as thick as I would have expected, more on the medium side. The lacing hangs on the glass in sheets, great head retention. Nice brew.

Dark golden to amber color and creates a nice medium-white head. Huge hoppy aromatics, almost like cannibus. Huge west coast hop profile in the flavor, like sucking on a hop cone. Medium to full palate with a thick chewy character. This is an excellent beer.

A murky orange pour. The aroma is one of the best ever. A whole bunch of fresh pine and hops in the nose. The flavor is a big kick of malt and hops but still finds balance. A grapefruit, lemon, and orange taste. The aftertaste is bitter . This one is highly complex and tasty.

22 oz bomber-Being a huge IIPA fan, it takes alot to impress me in this style. This one definately did!. Pours a deep copper hue, darker than alot of IIPA’s. There was a huge rocky white head that poured every time i sampled the bomber. Aroma of citrus, watermellon, caramel malts, with a slightly meaty/smoke element. Flavors are sweet, with lots of tartness up front and not that bitter when it was cold. The beer has a very chewey body and AWESOME lacing (thats why it got a 5 for appearance) every time i poured this beer, the lacing continued. This was a good change for me in the IIPA category. Big piney, dry finish that was very resiny. A very well balanced and different IIPA that i really enjoyed!

Big, big hop aroma. Big hop flavor up front, with not quite enough malt flavor to balance. This beer should mellow quite well with a little time.

22 oz bottle. Pours very clear dark copper-gold, smallish white head. Hoppy/piney nose is simple, boring. On the tongue, rather dry and leathery, quite pungent but not excessively bitter...fruitiness seems to be of the date/figgy kind...alcohol fairly strongly present as it warms...I’m just not getting it here, this is dry and boring and just has no guts to it at all that I can detect. Drinkable and reasonably pleasant, but not good, not really good at all.

As soon as I cracked the cap off this baby I knew I was in for a treat. Aroma extremely fresh and potent with sweet hoppy goodness. Thick fully lasting head sits on top of this magnificent wonder. If you are a hophead then you will find the flavor of the brew to be perfectly sublime. Hops are nicely accentuated and balanced by this beers rich malts. Enhancing the flavor and presence of these hops even more is the rich creamy body of this masterpiece work of art.

Enticing hoppy, sweet malty aroma. Good creamy head. Color is a hazy dark orange. Very malty mouthfeel with evidence of lots of hops. Not very bitter though. Creaminess is apparent, very cloying. Finish is dry, somewhat piney. Great IIPA in that it was brewed to be classy, not just an overload of hops. Marin rules!
