RBSG09 bottle at the brewpub. Bright orange/gold color with no head. Fusel alcohol aroma, turpentine, boozy fruits, phenols. And hey, whaddya know, the flavor is pretty much the same. Sweet and boozy and chemical. Basically Marin bottled a chemistry lab experiment gone wrong.

On tap at Marin brewpub during the 2009 RBSG visit there. Clear copper pour, the flavors I got were sherry and some alcohol.

Tasted on tap at the Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Festival on 11/15/2008. This barleywine/wheatwine pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is strange to say the least, I mostly got acetone and diesel, then some funk and must. A medium bodied barleywine/wheatwine. The malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are earthy. Kind of funky and musty, but the acetone aroma is not in the flavor. The palate is strange, kind of thin with an alcohol after bite. Not sure I can get past the aroma on this one. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is tart with and alcohol bite.

Pours pale copper with no head. Funk nose with some sweetness. A bit odd in the flavor with tart wine vinous and brett funk mixing oddly with the sweetness from the wheat wine, along with pretty prominent alcohol.

On tap @ Bistro BA Fest poured a clear copper with n o head. Aromas of sour apple and horseblanket. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of sour apple, toffee, spice and horseblanket with a smooth funky finish.

Draft at the Bistro’s BA Fest! Nose of caramel, brandy, and an apple note;clear light brown with a light ring of bubbles; flavor of tart apples, alcohol, and brett; tastes and smells more like an apple brandy than beer. Listed as 12% ABV at the Bistro.

Draft. Slightly hazy amber beer with an off-white head. Boozy, wheat, and malt aroma. Boozy, wheat flavor with white wine fruitiness. Medium-plus bodied. Wheat, yeast, white wine linger with alcohol.
