Commercial Description:
This version of wheat beer is unfiltered. The yeast is rich in vitamin B and rounds out the flavor of the beer.

I was a little dissapointed with this brew....not what I was expecting from the great brew co. Marin. Nose was very peachy as well as the flavor. Tastes a lot like the Beach Peach that they brew.....

I got a bottle at Benz Beverage Depot in Cedar Rapids, IA. The beer was in my fridge for a few days, but this still poured with a huge amount of foam. I filled up three glasses before gettting some liquid. The body was pale yellow and cloudy with a huge white head on top. The aroma had some soapy lemon bread with some notes of banana and clove. The taste is dry and nasty lemon rind. There is also some clove, but absolutely no sweetness to balance out the spice. The body is thin and lifeless, even with all the foam. A poorly made wheat beer that more of an American Wheat than a hefe.

I hope that future beers from Marin will be more enjoyable than this beer, as it was simply not very enjoyable. To start, I barely poured it into my hefe glass when foam just erupted everywhere. I realize that there would be some foam, but damn! Once things settled down and I could get a good bearing on the nose, it was slightly below average. There were some notes of hops and wheat going about but it was very minimal. Appearance was a nice hazy bright yellow color with nice lines of carbonation floating about. Mouthfeel was very harsh. So much so that it was mouthwash like, very astringent. Flavors didn’t carry the fruity esthers I like to find in my hefe’s, but it did carry a definite spicy profile. Overall, if you could get past the eruption of foam I still wouldn’t recommend this. Compared to some of the wheats you can find in the market, this really doesn’t match up well at all.

22 oz bottle from BevMo LaJolla. Pours cloudy golden with a huge, billowy white head that diminishes leisurely and leaves some lace. Aroma is apricot, cookie dough and hints of citrus. Flavor of lemon, wheat, floral bitterness and yeast. Medium body and prickly carbonation. Not too bad, but I prefer a bit more sweetness and spice in my hefe’s.

The label on the bottle and Marin’s website say this is an American Wheat, so I’ll treat it like one. Pour is an opaque dark yellow with a puffy white head. Aroma of wheat and yeast, but musty. The taste is thick with wheat and bread. Slight sour finish. As a German Hefe, this is terrible. As an American Wheat, its alright.

Bottled. This beer pours with more head than any I’ve ever seen! The aroma is actually very bready and the flavors lacks the sweetness and diversity of a german hef. There is a lingering bready taste that I can’t say I’m too fond of. I’m going to chase this beer with one that’s actually good just to banish that flavor.

Bottle. 22oz. Pours a somewhat cloudy golden yellow with an incredible, over-the-top head. Highly carbonated. This was not a German Hefewizen and actually reminded me more of a saison without the citrus. Pineapple flavors with a hefty dose of yeast. This was pretty disappointing.

This is somewhat weak and finishes in my opinion somewhere between a German style and an American style. Unbalanced and one sided, with a very pale and weak appearance. A nose that is somewhat funky and yeasty, but very light with just a bit of tanginess. Flavor has some maltiness, that tastes very cheap, and shortcutted. This beer sells itself short and I am not even finished with the bomber, nor do I want to be.
