rmussman (695), California, USA Mar 2, 2007 Purchased this beer prior to a trip to tahoe and we forgot about it and let it sit in the fridge for two weeks. Great decision as they label the beer as a live beer! When we opened it two weeks later it was probably one of the best beers we had ever had. Tons of flavor and aroma and just an all around great beer. jschlunt (8), Los Angeles, California, USA does not count Jun 3, 2003 A very light wheat beer with a hint of spice in it. One my favorite hot weather beers. thedm (3407), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 4, 2007 This draft brew from the brew pub poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a hazy uncarbonated yellow colored body. The aroma was malty and banana. . The flavor contained notes of malt hops and banana. A decent one that I would consider buying again. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Sep 14, 2005 (22 oz bottle: $2.99 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) The typical mess was waiting for me, Pale straw in color, and only somewhat hazy, this is a pretty sickly look beer, but after all, the beer is called "Hefe Weiss", so I guess I should have expected the "white" color. The head wanted to explode out of the glass, but Marin bottles have pulled that trick on me once too often, so I was ready. Thus, I only got a few inches of bubbly, white head which quickly died down to a manageable level, leaving some large patches of foam on the glass. The nose is perfumy and sweet, with a grainy aroma that is getting close to smelling like corn. More borderline grain/corn flavor as the base, with some a very gentle bitterness in the finish. The strong fruity notes that are intially sweet, but then become tart and acidic in the finish. It all remind me of a cheap, sweet sparkling wine (I guess that’s redundant). The body is light and vivacious from all the effervescence and the tart finish. I fully recognize that this is one bizarro beer. It’s not like a German Hefeweizen, but it’s not supposed to be. It’s not like your typical American Wheat beer either. It’s just weird, but for whatever reason, I’m kind of liking it. I’ll actually drink the entire bomber in one sitting. Sledge Jr (2730), Omaha, Nebraska, USA May 26, 2007 In the bomber bottle from Cyclone Liquors. Pours explosively. Perhaps this should have been kept chilled by the retailer? Massive exploding beer. Huge bright white head atop a pale yellow beer that turns baby poop gold upon mixing the yeast cake into the pour. Outrageous banana aroma that confuses any other smell. Huge lemon flavor that slips into a giant wave of banana sweetness fairly quickly. Remarkable beer. takes forever to pour, but well worth it.
