scrizzz (576), kirkland, Washington, USA Jul 22, 2008 orange/gold clear but with a dense haze, soft fluffy, creamy head. sticky citrus aroma with lemon and birch. very impressive to have all of this flavor and body in a single IPA. malt has a smoky side and demands alot of complimentary hops, which are here in ample amounts. balanced pine/grapefruit swirl in the finish. ends a bit heavy with a lasting tingle on the back of the throat.
anders37 (2992), Malmö, Sweden Jan 8, 2009 Draft @ Piaci Pub & Pizza, Fort Bragg, CA. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Has a malty hoppy pine needles aroma. Sweetish malty bitter hoppy piney flavor with some citrus hints. Has a sweetish malty bitter hoppy finish with a long bitter aftertaste. jthg (32), Austin, Texas, USA Jan 3, 2009 4 beers in. Great beer. We started comparing it to stone ipa in how much we would like to drink it. So, it is good ipa. More malty then stone. heemer77 (3955), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jan 3, 2009 Tap at Toronado. The body was medium copper with an off white head. The aroma was straight forward pine and caramel. There was also some orange. The taste was a little leathery with some oranges and apples. Decent, but a little boring. JoeMcPhee (4061), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Dec 31, 2008 22 oz bomber. Hazy amber beer with a thin white head. Aroma is quite spicy/fruity. Soft pine/grapefruit with a kiss of light peppery notes. Pretty solid aroma. There is a nice herbal character that is unusual for a west coast IPA. A nice combination of spice and grapefruit. It’s pretty atypical but it works pretty well. Soft sweetness, a bit of toasted malt and pale character. Fairly hoppy bitterness and a lingering orange citrusy flavour. Quite dry on the back. Pretty solid really. fakepurseninja (601), Washington, USA Sep 24, 2008 Well constructed overall - malty with nice hop presence. Nothing noteworthy but a decent drink.
