[big bottle] Almost opaque black with a patchy, light brown cover. Not quite oily thick. Very inviting aroma that’s an even balance of roast and toast plus a blast of vanilla and cream. I was definitely not let down when it came to tasting this beer. The flavour is everything that was promsed in the scent: toasty roasty creamy vanilla, perfectly balanced malt sweetness and bitterness. Probably some hops in there too. Medum to full body and moderate carbonation. Everything about this beer was very good, even the map to the brewery pub on the back of the label.

This porter pours a dark brown color from a 22 ox bottle. Large sized tan foamy head, with good lacing. Aroma is chocolate, with a touch of toasty roasty malts. A medium to light bodied porter. Malts are chocolate and roasty, with a touch of burnt malt and coffee grounds. Fairly strong hop presence, piney and spicy. Lots of coffee and roasty flavors floating around in this one. Nice balance. Decent porter. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bomber bottle from SDAlkoholic and served in a Expedition snifter:

Deep brown and nearly opaque with a nice sized but fading frothy tan head and some lace. The aroma has notes of heavy malting (burnt, chocolate, and caramel), vienna roast coffee, beer nuts (yes beer nuts), some spicy and piney hops and finally a bit of alcohol vapors. The taste starts with a nice mocha and acidic fruit kick before being enveloped by heavy coffee and smoke characteristics. The feel is velvet and smooth with an interesting woody dry finish. I found this a solid brew and worth drinking again.

22 oz bottle acquired in trade with DarkElf (thanks!). This one poured all head (6 finger head with 1 finger liquid). Poured a very dark brown with a humongous brownish head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, roast and some yeast. When tasted, stronger coffee and roasted malts hit me followed by chocolate with some dark fruits lurking in the background. Nice medium bitter finish. I just wish this one wouldn’t keep pouring all head.

First off…I got a bubbler. Very heady with carbonatin throughout the flavor. Nice roasted toffee aroma. Reddish brown pour with toasted caramel head. Burnt malt flavor combines with sugary sweetness and some pacNW hops make it in an interesting swallow. Very nice, next time less froth please. Thank to DarkElf for the sample!

Thin khaki colored ahead across a dark brown porter. Once held agaisnt a light i can notice on the trims a bit of sediment in a whirlwind. Mocha and chocolate greets the nose and the flavor carries the same weight as well. Has a fairly dark roasted structure of malt to it added with a bitter hoppiness and milk aftertaste that’s dry. Another worthy and drinkable beer from Marin Brewing.

Deep dark body under a light tan head. Cocoa and coffee aroma come easily from this one. The flavor follows the aroma nicely and leads to a long, satisfying finish. I don’t know why more haven’t tried this, it’s definitely worth seeking out.
