Tap at Grand Cafe, SF. Paid way too much at this upscale joint. But whatever, was paid by the boss, so better get something worth drinking then. This was quite ok. Poured a dark brown with a medium creamy brownish head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee. Creamy soft tste, some coffee, some roasted malt, hint of chocolat. Very decent brew, no flaws.

Bomber poured a clear dark brown with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, roastiness and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, bitter chocolate, roasted malt and a hint of vanilla with a smooth roasty finish.

On tap. Aroma and flavor of roasted malt and bitter coffee. Some sweetness in the mix. Pretty solid porter.

Little bit of chocolate in the taste. Not heavy. Fairly good porter with lots of flavor.

Most impressive Marin, even more so than White Knuckle. Had this on tap at Hotel Monaco in SF and out of a bottle from Whole Foods Pasadena, CA. Pours a dark rootbeer brown, big puffy head at first that completely subsides. Aromas of roasted coffee, and flavors of coffee, spice and a tad bit of chocolate. Rich but not too thick, highly highly drinkable.

Gushed a little bit when I popped the cap. Lots of foam/head when pouring the bottle. This one seems to be a bit overcarbonated. Aroma smells just fine though. Roasted malt with some coffee and chocolate. Flavor is dry. Body is medium but ridiculously effervescent. The beer actually foams quite a bit when it hits my tongue and gives a bit of carbonation sting... way too much carbonation for a porter. Makes it hard to taste the actual beer. Doesn’t have any off-flavors or aromas though. I’ll have to try this one again sometime.

Sample at the Most Honorable SuperHappyFun Stout Tasting, thanks Dogbrick: Dark pour with generous bubbly and frothy head. Carbonation and malts initially sting the tongue. Hint of vinegar amongst roasted chocolate malts. Sharp and bitter at points. Sort of all over the place. I thought I was really going to like this, based on the Stout I have tried by the same Brewery but alas, no. A miss.
