Pours a dark black-brown with no head to speak of and a sweet brown sugar aroma with notes of chocolate and vanilla - yum! Solid sweet malt backbone, light spice, all the character of a gingersnap without the ginger. Light chocolate roastiness, lingering sweet finish. Gooey body with decent carbonation, I wish it had been a tad creamier (with a bit of head). Very solid porter, quaffable and well-executed. Yum!

Bomber. Pours black with brown tinges, and huge, foamy dark-brown head. Aroma is sweet malt, with some chocolate and roast. Flavor is heavily roasted malt, chocolate with a little sweetness, and bit of acidity from the roasted/burnt malt. Velvety mouthfeel. Pretty solid.

On tap a few weeks back; I believe at Blue Palms. Poured a very dark brown color. Aroma of cocoa, dust, chalk and roasted malt. Flavor was sweet, with some milky notes, caramel, cocoa, and roasted malt. Chalky, sweet and smooth. A pretty solid beer.

The look is black in color, dark, and has a tan colored head. The smell is chocolate, coffee, nuts, malts, and roasty. The taste is roast, malts, coffee, and chocolate.

Pours very dark with a thin tan head. Nose was subdued with a little roasted malt evident. Taste was more complex than expected. Nice roasted coffee notes with dark chocolate undertones as well as a dry slightly sweet finish. Very good.

From Firefly. Poured seriously dark, almost black, beneath a creamy tan head of no great thickness; this did not stay very long. Not a lot for the nose here, maybe some roasted malt. Taste was delicious, with coffee, the malt, and perhaps dark chocolate at play. Nice dry finish.

Poured clear dark brown with an almost two-finger tall tan head. The aroma was roasted malts, chalky and a touch of coffee. The flavor was smoky, roasted malts, light coffee and a touch of chocolaty sweetness. The mouthfeel was thin and the finish fairly succinct. Drinkable, just not all that exciting.
