The aroma is sweet with strong notes of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, giving it a bit of acidity, but also notes of dark bitter chocolate, leading to a dry bitter roasted and chocolaty end. But the body is a bit thin. Papsoe (15180), Frederiksberg, Denmark

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 23, 2008 22 fl oz bottle. Pours pitch dark with a lovely creamy and chocolate brown head slowly diminishing in this lovely melting way into the beer beneath. Chocolate, roasted malt, mild vanilla and light hops fruity aroma. Flavour has all of this in a nice creamy blend with a fruity flavour that lends itself towards a blackberry note. Medium sweet and fruity hops finish swept in a nice creamy chocolate malty and slight tarish roasted malt finish. Lovely and highly drinkable! omhper (12321), Stockholm, Sweden

Roasty, malty and even a bit tangy aroma. Smooth body, rich with chocolate and roast. A little bit of nuttiness, too. Decent bitterness but otherwise no particular hop character. This is a classic rich and meaty American stout. argo0 (7035), Washington DC, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 7, 2003 Black body with medium dark-tan head. Aroma is malty -- strong roasty mocha, and some cocoa. Taste is semi-sweet, some cocoa, and good roasty bitterness. Creamy, especially once it warms. Not overpowering, but very nice nonetheless.
