Aroma is very malty, slight spicy hops, but very, very mild. Flavor is roasty and malty, smoky, and dry. Medium body and medium carbonation. Refreshing but not spectacular. mrhoppy (217), Santa Clara, California, USA

Super delicious. The grains are dominant. Highly underrated. Marin Brewing and Moylan’s are linked by ownership and their beers are very similar. If you like reds you gotta try this one. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 20, 2009 Received as a gift from my friend Pat. Poured a copperish brown color with minimal head. A little bit of hops present in the aroma but barely. Malty flavor in the aftertaste. Nothing special, just OK. hayduke (1667), Eureka, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 24, 2009 Got this dusty bottle at the Bottle Barn in Santa Rose and there is no bottle date so I am not sure how old this was. The 22 oz bottle poured a very clear copper red color with a nice tan head and lots of lacing. Big nose of caramel malts and floral hops. Smooth and slick mouthfeel. Flavor is dominated by the caramel malts but there is some ripe fruit and again floral hops. Finish is dry. Enjoyable. alexanderj (2280), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 28, 2009 Bottle. Haven’t had one from this style in a while. Poured a dirty amber color with a large off white head. Aroma was nice with caramel, toasted bread, with earth, apples and fruit. Flavor was very solid. Malty, bready and fruity. Nothing too exceptional either way, just a nice sessionable brew. iowaherkeye (1873), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 15, 2009 22oz bomber, no date picked up from the brewpub. Clear orange amber with a small taupe head, fading to a thick ring and thin film. Caramel and light toast dominate the aroma, with a little earth in the background. Flavor is much the same--plenty of caramel and a little toast. Bitterness was around a 2-3, and the finish was kinda biscuity. I was also able to pick up on light alcohol. Low to moderate carbonation with a medium body. Pretty good for what is an unexciting style. anders37 (4792), Malmö, Sweden

Has a malty caramel aroma with some hoppy hints. Sweetish malty hoppy caramel flavor. Has a sweetish malty hoppy caramel finish. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 8, 2009 From the bottle. Copper with a smooth tall off-white head. Fruity nose of apricot and mild caramel. Very sessionable, well balanced and smooth, but really didn’t stand out. Bready notes from the malt pair nicely against the soft earthy and spicy hops.
