| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 23, 2006 Mellow hazy orange appearance, just a light skim of foam that fades down into a small bubbly ring. Aroma is lightly citric with delicate floral fruit aromas, cereal wheat flake maltiness. Wrams to a bit of an oloroso, pale and dry. Flavor is nicely malty, some zesty spiciness, aftertaste is slightly vegetal, but not in a bad way, very well balanced.juicy citrus fruitiness. smcd (366), USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 22, 2006 Big, fruity aromas mixed with malty wheatiness and just a hint of spice I can’t quite place. Pours a beautiful, clear gold with a medium-sized, fizzy white head that dissipates relatively quickly to a thin film. Flavors of Belgian triples abound with a smooth, but warming, alcohol presence. Softly carbonated and a medium-full mouthfeel. Finishes just slightly sweet on the palate. Very little hop presence here. grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 13, 2006 Slightly hazy sunshine color which belies the strength packed within. Aroma is strong wheat with a slight buttery edge and slight herbaceousness. I get a light fruitiness (mostly cherry) and evident alcohol in the flavor. Lightly bitter finish. Gee, my review sounds a lot like Per’s upon closer examination, but he nailed this one. I don’t get the sherry comparisons. Interesting stuff but I don’t think I’d buy again. omhper (12229), Stockholm, Sweden

Very sweet with notes of toffee and vodka-like burning alcohol. Evident wheat malt character and a pleasantly soft moutfheel. Salty finish. A strange but intriguing beer. The flavor was sweet, bready, lightly spicy but dominated by sweet malt/wheat. Warm alcohol going down. Slick medium body. Enjoyable. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA

Wheatwine is a substyle of barleywine that was pioneered in California early on in the micro boom, by the Rubicon Brewing Company of Sacramento, CA. This "blonde barleywine" is brewed with a significant portion of malted wheat, as well as malted barley, giving it some character you just won’t find in a traditional barleywine.
Wheatwine is a wonderful, rich, and delicious barleywine strength version of an American wheat ale.
Star Brew 2154 Triple Wheat Ale pours to a beautiful, bright, deep golden color with a creamy white head that fades, and a soft carbonation. The nose on this beer is interesting with aromas of sweet malt, wheat bread, some spicy hop aroma, and peppery alcohol. The palate is rich and full on the tongue with big flavors of malt, fresh baked wheat bread, touches of estery fruit, and hints of cracked black pepper. Star Brew 2154 ends with more malty and wheaty flavors up front, then ends with a warming, soothing burn.
