| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 14, 2005 Star Brew 2810 year of 2005: Pours a dense blonde gold with a frothy topping of bone white head. Aroma is lightly hopped and contains trace of grained malt. After taking the first sip i was immediately assured this was a barleywine because of the sweet malt and warming alcohol. I must say this is the most different barleywine i have had, it’s almost like a blonde ale crossed paths with a stong ale to produce the flavor of ths. Again traces of grained malt and hop flavors as well as a sweet and dry undertone plays its part. Aftertaste is similiar to a sryup. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 14, 2005 Slightly murky golden light orange color. Sweet corn and juicy honey aromas. Malty with not so much of a noticable wheat character, hot with alcohol in the nose and flavor, with some subtle butter/diacetyl notes. Chewy and thick and somewhat hot - thick body with some chewy brown sugar flavors. Nutmeg, toast and honey finishes this one off. But I’m left disappointed - there’s nothing here that really comes togethor. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 4, 2005 Golden-yellow body with low levels of fine particles, mild carbonation, and a sudsy, clean white head. Aroma is of butterscotch, honey, polished leather, and tree bark. Medium diacetyl levels, but a clean diacetyl, plus sweet bananas, butterscotch, and some woodsy hops. Like sweet and hoppy wheat cereal. Not bad, but for some reason I’m looking for a different character in this. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA

I have to give it to the brewers at Marin - they like to mix it up with some unique beers. BückDich (4853), McCall, Idaho, USA

Nose of a sweet corn desert, an homage to wheat, some bright fruity alcohol and the smell of new Ikea furniture. The flavor is creamy, well carbonated and a bit green and strong. The finish is fairly musky, a bit over bitter but smooth for the strength.
