Pours a thick color of orange tinged gold with a thin layer of fading white head. Smooth, light aromas of banana, orange zest and a touch of mexican vanilla. A hint of passion fruit as well. Restrained tropical fruit aromas with a blending cream character. Full bodied, heavy mouthfeel that lies somewhere between syrupy and creamy. Some subtle sweetness initally brushes the palate, accompanied by soft wheat flavors. This then recedes to some spicy citrus flavors of west coast hops, whose piney, resinous flavors take over the final smack and seem a bit out of place in this wheat wine style of brew. Very smooth drink of wheat, not very complex, very present orange citrus. The alcohol was high and hitting you at the end. Good full mouthfeel. Not too sweet, but well malted very drinkable.

Very much indeed like a traditional barleywine in many respects from flavor profile to body. The biggest difference was the color--much lighter than expected. The flavor was somewhat lighter as well. Sweet without much of thecharacteristic grainy elements. Some sweet malt flavors but fewer caramel, toffee, and mollasses one might expect. Finishes light without much bitterness. Asweet mild aroma carries throughout. skoisirius (584), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 20, 2006 22 oz bottle picked up at John’s Market in Portland. I believe it’s the 2006 brew coming in at 9.2% ABV. Poured into a Snifter glass. This one pours a very solid golden and almost clear color. Doesn’t look like too much carbonation is going on, and it’s got a very thin foamy white head that retreats to the side of the glass after a minute. The aroma has a hevay wheaty and yeasty hint with tones of apples and what could almost seem to be apricots. The flavor begins with a light touch of yeast, which moves quickly into a heavy and thick wheat flavor with touches of honey that takes up most of the dense body. Near the finish it brings a nice alcoholic warming and singe to the tongue. This brew is extremely smooth for the ABV and it being a wheat beer. VERY smooth!! Almost has a feeling of honey flowing down the throat. I really enjoyed it! bombshelter (349), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | Sep 13, 2006 bottle from joel. tremendous. aroma is like a normal wheat: floral, yeasty. medium/heavy body. flavor is awesome: sweetness of a wheat, but enough hops to balance it out, and 9% feels very smooth. This is fantastic. 11026 (1779), Alabama, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 25, 2006 Bottle. Newer paper label. Pours a medium amber colored and quite clear. Smallish white head forms and dissipates quickly to a ring. Light, spotty lacing is left behind. Aroma seems dull. Perhaps some light fruit notes, touches of wheat malt. Body is full and viscous, coating, quite pleasant. Flavors run along a strong American wheat. Slight alcohol warming in the gullet. Fairly non-descript to me. Decent if not awe inspiring. I detect some pears and white grapes in the aroma. Almost smells like fruit cocktail. There is a mild vinousness. I like it. Hazy honey colored body with a nice little off-white head. Sweet, sugary, fruity start, which turns rather chewy with plenty of wheat maltiness. A bit roasty in the middle with just a touch of ethanol. Finishes with more sweetness and more cereal-like maltiness. This is pretty nice, and suprisingly not overly hopped. I think this is pretty good as is and I am not so sure how much more it would benefit from aging. greenhorn1 (462), Mission Viejo, California, USA

Not one particular flavor overpowers the other. You can taste hints of citrus, wheat, honey and the high alcohol is well hidden. Some of you may cringe out there, but I dropped a lemon wedge in it which which really brought out the citrus flavors. Great beer with or without the lemon.
