And dry-hopped is a perfiect discription. This is more like an IPA than an American Pale Ale. It pours a cloudy golden color. With aromas of hops and hints of citrus. Hops invade the palate from start to finish. Wow! DiamondD (38), Sammamish, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 9, 2003 This pours an ever so gently clouded golden orange with a good tight head. Very hoppy aroma with a light fruity background. The body is perfect for a good pale ale. Not to watery. I really like this beer. It is definitely a Pacific Northwest pale ale. Very hoppy in the nose and all over the palate. This could probably pass for an IPA in some regions or countries. Very well put together beer, especially if your a hophead. Nonetheless, This is a good IPA. Bright Orange. Lotsa hops, of course, all over the palate. Earthy, meaning there is a sort of raw character to the hops. Not much crspness in the finish, sorta messy. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA

Which is fine by me, but the aftertaste leaves a little to be desired. Overall this is a beautiful pale ale, very yummy and full bodied. drismyhero (815), Tacoma, Washington, USA

Just very thin, almost no malt and very little taste in general. This probably quenches a sailor's thirst nicely on some boat(considering the brewery's namesake)...but I have yet to experience this. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 26, 2002 This beer looked great from the start. Peachy body and a creamy head having little furrows dividing mountains. Clean, crisp, and refreshing hop aroma--a nearly heavenly floral bouquet of unadulterated hops. This was a virtually perfect American pale ale. The cream head had velvety texture and gave way to a clean, floral hop taste that was consistently bitter, but without a hard bite. This is certainly one of the best APA’s in creation--a paradigm from the Pacific Northwest and another stellar concoction from Maritime Pacific.
