Tap at Barking Dog. Nice sweet malty aroma, caramel mostly and some fruity/floral hops. Pours dark-ish amber with a nice fluffy head. Sweet flavors of caramel, honey, fruity notes followed by a floral clean bitterness. SOme residual sweetness choses to linger for a little while. Nice light bite in the finish from hop/carbonation mixture.

One of the last pours on draught at the Jolly Roger brewery/taproom grill in suburban Seattle, WA. Lucky to have visited before this beer ran out. Pours a dark copper amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and off-white ring. Aroma of sweetened caramel malts, flowery hops, a touch of Yorkshire pudding with butter and some light spice. Taste is full bodied, a little sweet with flavors of sweetened caramel malt, a touch of apple and some mild fruit cake. Finish is sweet with small bit of citrus hop character that slowly disappears. This is a multi-personality maibock and willing to try this one again. Curious to see how next year’s batch turns out.

Tap. Malty with a hop edge and finish with a touch of pepper and alcohol. Copper colour with a light head and lacing. A touch of syrupy sweetness and lightly spiced. An additcive combination. Gets better as it goes down. Almost like a lite Barley Wine as it warms.

A deep golden amber color with a thin head. This had a deep sweet malty aroma with a flavor to match the floral notes also added to the flavors. This was a great beer and if this sits it get better with the warmth of the hand. Great beer for a cool day.

On tap at Maritime in Seattle. Red-gold in color. Slight maple/caramel aroma with just a whiff of hops. This is a sweet one, though perhaps less so than other maibocks that I’ve tried. Still, the sweetness seemed sticky, nearly overpowering some of the other characteristics of the brew. The alcohol shows up after a few sips, and its presence grows as the glass empties. Drinkable, but a wee bit out of balance.

Half pint on tap at Latona Pub in Seattle. Spiced, peppery aroma with some mild citris orange hoppiness. Lightly sweet aroma that is rather faint. Beautiful mild-moderate hazy orange color with off-yellowish head and nice lacing. Sweet, sticky caramel chewy start, turning a bit more alcoholic with earthy hoppiness late. Hops create a rather bitter flavor. A bit too hopped for the style, IMO. Not overly bad, though.
