Bottle 50cl. @ home.
Clear dark dark red brown color with a large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, roasted, dark chocolate notes, moderate berry, burnt sugar notes. Flavor is light to moderate sweet and moderate blackcurrants - chocolate bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. [20081127]

(6/17/08) Draught at Zum Nussbaum in Berlin. Black with a medium light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee notes. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, some coffee, a bit of caramel, and some light roasty dryness. Medium-bodied. Nice.

Draft in Berlin: pours a dark brown with a thin frothy head, some malt aroma and more or less that is about all it had for flavor, thin mouthfeel as well. Not very good.

On the German menu called "Märkischer Landmann Schwartz" but on the English menu called "Schwartzer Steiger dark beer".
Clear dark brown color, fluffy tan head. Roasted and maltys weet scent. Spicy and malty taste. Moussy mouthfeel, low bitterness.

0,5l bottle. Pours very dark black with practically no foam at all. I didn’t catch any aroma either. The flavor is a bit strange but not at all bad. I drinked it up with ease but will never buy it again.

Biggish shiny beige lasting head. Deep dark red barely translucent body. Light roasty acidic aroma. Sweetish taste of raisins, licorice, and wild berries with a delicate dry burnt finish. Minty notes as well. Very harmonic and delicate. Very nice. (0.3l draft at If Kneipe, Lübeck.)

500 ml bottle in Berlin: poured dark brown with a large thick beige head. Looks real nice. Mild roasted malt aroma with a bit of sourish notes. Flavor was again slightly sourish with some chocolate and roasted malt. Pretty solid beer.
