| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 14, 2007 Berlin Trip beer No.4 On draft at Sophien ’eck on Gosse Hamburger Str, Berlin Mitte - so go there if you want to find it on tap! Black/brown body, creamy head. Very light for such a dark beer - lemon citrus flavours, peaty undertones and a burnt finish. JoeinUccle (911), Brussels, Belgium
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 17, 2007 So many schwarzbiers are all style (appearance and aroma) and no substance (weak flavor and palate). But i was quite happy with this one. Half-liter bottle pours black with amber highlights, and the tall, frothy, tan head disappears quickly. Nice malty, yeasty aroma reminds me of dark rye bread. Those roasty malts stand out in the flavor, as they should, and the beer goes bitter and ends quite dry. You can really coat your tongue with that burnt character, I can see why the last rater said "something smoky." Not an exceptional beer, but pretty damned interesting for a Schwarzbier. almosi (279), Viña del Mar, Chile

Good color, dark bronze. The aroma is sweet. Raisins and something smoky. The sensation in the mouth, is Sweetish, toasting and something bitter in the end. Finish a enough length, that maintains the bitterness. Average body. It is not the beer that I hoped, but is very drinkable. cgarvieuk (4196), Edinburgh, Scotland

Malty raisins, some roasty burnt-ness and a nice schwarzbier. Page 306 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 321 out of his 500 Classic Brews to go. pivnizub (5048), Bochum, Porúří, Germany
