| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 30, 2009 A: On-tap at the Great Lost Bear in Portland, ME. Poured with no head... there’s not even really a film on here. Body is a dark amber color, and clear.
S: Mostly hoppy aroma, but not overly strong. Mild citrus notes as well.
T: There’s some citrus in the beginning, but then the hops come plowing through. It actually finishes more hoppy and bitter than I would have expected from the aroma. Quite impressive.
M: Medium-bodied, creamy, with soft carbonation.
D: A good IPA... the taste makes up for any shortcomings from the appearance and aroma, and works out well for people that like some hops in their beer. MartinT (5075), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 29, 2009 My Bottom Line:
This nearly quenching (really!) Double IPA offers bountiful citrusy and floral hoppiness atop discreet malt crackers, ending in a resinous show of bitterness.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the lightly hazy dark shade of golden.
-Alcohol doesn’t really show in Marshall Wharf brews, it seems.
-The body is quite lean and the carbonation rather soft, making this dangerously drinkable for a 9% brew.
-The finishing bitterness is not as intense as the usual Double IPA’s, which is probably one of the reasons why he describes this one as being "lighter".

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 14, 2009 Growler poured into my Dogfish Head snifter produced a good two fingers worth of off white head that settled to a thick lace. The lace follows the clear amber body slowly down the glass as you drink it.
The aroma is nice and piney with some floral hoppiness as well.
The flavor is very balanced between the malty sweetness and the hops. It did finish rather dry and bitter, but not a hop bomb in any way. The feel in my mouth is light to medium with good carbonation for your tongue.
Good drinkability on this brew, finishing the growler will be no problem.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 5, 2008 On tap at the GLB. Somewhere between a 60 and 90 minute in terms of bitterness. There’s a malt profile very similar to the DFH 90 minute at work here. There’s a big wallop of hops also. This stuff is very very promising. I’ve got to head to belfast next weekend and try the rest of these. WeeHeavySD (3041), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
