(on bottle) Chestnut-golden brown, no head. Kind of a smoked aroma, mixed with the sent of fallen leaves in october. Woody, earthy, full. More wood in the taste, plus some caramel, escorted by a surpricingly high carbonation(where did that come from?). Ends english = waterish, but till sweet malted. great beer, have a soft spot for Marstons, I do.

Fragrant hop aroma. Fresh hoppy flavour. Smooth and easy to drink bitter. Good as a session beer.

600ml clear glass bottle 3.8%v/v. Poured a clear chestnut with tiny bubbles & white head. Good lacing. Fresh cereal hop nose. Great bitter malt flavour. Suprisingly full mouthfeel with long bitter finish. Good session beer.

Mid amber with a very small white head. Aroma of toasted malt. The taste had caramel with a good bitter finish. I like 660ml bottles. There should be more of them. Despite the carbonation, this was much more agreeable than the cask version. Perhaps that wasn’t at its best.

Clear amber, moderate head. Soft malt aromas with a little fruity yeast character. Toffee malt flavour predominates, some light fruity notes, and a mildly bitter finish. Decent enough.
