Slightly creamy which was odd, but otherwise had all the hallmarks fo a burton bitter. Sulphur, yeast and some caramel malt and a bit of spicy hop. Bit thin though hughie (3086), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jun 3, 2005 I didn’t discern any aroma. Smallish white head. Good lacing. Dark golden colour. Wasn’t easy to break down the flavour: I picked out cabbage leaves and woodshavings. Sourness, too. Little in the way of lasting dryness, though curiously it did leave an acrid bitter aftertaste after the pint had been consumed. DeepBlack (387), Derby, Derbyshire, England

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 7, 2005 Cask, Wetherspoons. Bright bronze colour. Huge sulphur aroma dominates. Not a great beer, bland. If you have to have a Marston’s beer, stick with Pedigree, it is at least a little better than this.
