Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. A Wetherspoons regular.
"This beer is brewed using special Burton brewing water drawn from the hills. The quality of water used at Marston’s Brewery is critical to the finished beer - the well water in Burton-on-Trent gives an unusually clear, bright bitter."

The Regular at my ex- local, it’s good enough bitter. All you can expect a pint of bitter to be. Creamy, little white head, not ice cold. mmm

(Cask at Lord Moon of the Mall (JDW), London) Clear copper body with off-white head. Aroma is faint, floral/orange, caramel, light spice. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, some floral, faint earthy, minimal bitterness. Watery light body with minimal carbonation.

Cask at County Hotel, Ashford, Kent Slightly creamy which was odd, but otherwise had all the hallmarks fo a burton bitter. Sulphur, yeast and some caramel malt and a bit of spicy hop. Bit thin though

I didn’t discern any aroma. Smallish white head. Good lacing. Dark golden colour. Wasn’t easy to break down the flavour: I picked out cabbage leaves and woodshavings. Sourness, too. Little in the way of lasting dryness, though curiously it did leave an acrid bitter aftertaste after the pint had been consumed.

Cask conditioned & on handpump at The Standing Order in Derby on 11/03/05. Mid brown colour. Nice malty-ness to it. Bready / oaty. Unexciting but sightly above avarage

Cask conditioned @ JDW, Soton. Sulphury yeast and a hint of caramel. Sugary sweet body with the bare minimum of bitterness.

Cask, Wetherspoons. Bright bronze colour. Huge sulphur aroma dominates. Not a great beer, bland. If you have to have a Marston’s beer, stick with Pedigree, it is at least a little better than this.
