Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. A Wetherspoons regular.
"This beer is brewed using special Burton brewing water drawn from the hills. The quality of water used at Marston’s Brewery is critical to the finished beer - the well water in Burton-on-Trent gives an unusually clear, bright bitter."

Cask@JDWetherspoons, Brighton. This tasted exactly the same as the Titanic Silver Spoon, perhaps this had a little more going for it, but it was still quite watery and stale. Pretty bad.

Amber with a white head. Medium smooth mouthfeel. Bland sweet mild bitter finish. Mild malt aroma. Ok drinkable bitter.

Cask at Wetherspoons in Heathrow. My last beer rating from my trip! Copper body with a small tan head. Nose is lightly hopped and has mild grainiess and perhaps stewed veggies as well. Taste is a pleasant bitterness with a light malt profile and some grains. Body is slick and creamy. Finish is light bitterness with more grains.

Cask conditioned @ Oktoberfest, JD Wetherspoons, High Wycombe. Oh dear! Tight sparkler gives this a bigger head than John Smiths Extra Smooth, and drives all the suphur up into the head. Makes this smell like rotten eggs, and leaves it with a flat, tasteless body.

Re-rate - hand pulled at the Briar Rose (JDW). Awful beer, maybe it was badly kept, but it reeked. Nasty start and nasty finish - my buddy and I couldn’t decide whether it reminded us of p*ke or sh*t. Either way it wasn’t good! (9/10/04) Hand pulled at the Rainbow, Birmingham. Vivid brown/ginger colour, with a long-lasting head. I found this rather tart, vinegar-y almost, especially in the lemon finish. Plenty of malt and toffee too, but I didn’t get too excitied by this.

[Cask at Charlie's Bar, Copenhagen] An amber beer with a fine beige head. The aroma is nicely hoppy and fruity with notes of yeast. The flavor is weird - it seem that it hasn't finished fermenting. I don't like it.

Cask Conditioned at The Packhorse Inn, Little Longstone, Derbys. Amber beer with rocky head. A big favourite session beer, sulphery nose, lively slightly sweet malty body and sharp finish. Not at its best for this marking.

April, 2004: The Rhyddings, Swansea. Frothy head. Pale orange amber. Slight fruit. Nothing offensive. Minimal hop awareness, though a pleasant hoppy dry finish. A few of these started a very long evening of emotional catch up conversation, but we soon switched to Tetley’s as a better form of conversation lubricant. [2.3]
Sept, 2004: JDW, Rochester. Sparkler. Creamy plastic. Dead aroma. Muted flavour. Some vaque fruit and a dryish finish of no character. Difficult to see the appeal of this one. A beer to please the accountants of both Marston and Wetherspoon as they clearly did not spend much money on the ingredients. [2.0]
Jan, 2005: JDW, Rochester. Whiff of sulphur. Thin. Dry. Some apple. [2.2]
