A Mes rate: cask at Baker Street ’Sporks.
Clean pale gold with an oily white film. Apples and egg in the aroma, it’s almost cider like! The bacon fat in the flavour all but masks the reasonable hops underneath. Faint bitterness in the finish with a hint of sourness. Served almost off once again. It amazes me that they can get away with this.

Cask in the new crown. Aroma is buttery pale malts, small sulphury character, grassy hop is subtle. Taste is a similar bag of cake.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Amber with white head. Quite a hard, sulphery start to the beer, I know that this is how English Pale Ales were, but then this loses it in a sweetish blandness of indistinct malt and vague hop notes. The Burton snatch grabs the attention, it should have then lived up to its billing. Average.

Cask at the Babington Arms (JDW), Derby. Attractive looking bright gold with an off-white head; aroma of leafy hops and sulphur; flavour is slightly herbal with a short bitterness and lacking finish.

Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End, Harrow. Pale orange with a lacy white head. Very much a Marston’s beer with sulphur and dusty hops. Nice beer but it was Pedigree wth a different pumpclip to me.
