Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in 500ml clear glass bottles @ 5.0%. Occasionally available in cask. Has been brewd at 4.6%
The aptly named, "Double Drop", is brewed using just one type of English Barley - Maris Otter - which was harvested from Fuggle Farm in Norfolk. Uniquely, double dropping brings out the full flavour of this one melt, often described as "the king of brewing barley". The double dropping technique allows only the most vigorous yeast to survive and results in a cleaner fermentation process and a fresher, brighter beer. Double dropping involves "dropping" the beer during fermentation from one vessel to another, normally after 24 hours.

Short head. Few bubbles. Lots of hops, overpowers the little flavour and malt. Good body. A wake up beer, great with Mexican.

Bottled. A golden beer with a small white head. Quite malty aroma with some decent hoppiness. The flavor is too weak and anonumous, with a malt dominated start, and some hops coming after a while. Nice mouthfeel and body. (060428)

Bottle. Golden colour with a white head. Fruity malt aroma. The flavour is bitter and malty with hints of caramel.

An amber coloured beer with a thickish white head. The nose is of malty sweetness with a hint of hops. The taste is of a smooth dry hoppiness followed by a sweet malt flavour that lingers on the tongue. (Bottle - Purchased from The World of Wines, Southsea, Hampshire).

Nose is a bit sharp and yeasty. Nice colour, but a quickly dissipating head (as with other Marston’s bottled beers). flavour is bright and yeasty with a strongly bitter finish. All in all not amazing.

had this beauty in a bottle, i wouldnt say its unreasonably harsh, certainly quite strong. the colour is sort of amber with a fruity sweet smell. Not the best but not the worst.

500ml bottle from Morrisons. Orange copper colour with thin white head. Strong caramel and orange aroma with some sulphur. Malts are reasonably juicy with sharp hop finish. One of the best Marston bottled beers, touch of spice too

Bottled - A copper coloured beer with a malty grassy aroma. The taste is grassy and quite bitter. Quite a sharp, harsh taste and reasonably full bodied. Not really for me.
