Commercial Description:
Pasteurised and filtered. Bottled.
"Brewed almost as pale as lager and so smooth you will hardly notice it slipping down between the goals. A very pale ale brewed with our finest hand made malt combined with Fuggle and Golding hops and just a touch of fine aroma hop to add a citrusy, bitter tang to whet your whistle!"
Ingredients: Maris Otter malt; Goldings and Fuggles hops.

Pours great golden yellow with good thick head. A bit of hay and fruity aromas, but largely dominated by a hay-like maltiness. Taste is a bit citric with fruity undertones, ending on a rather sharp bitterness.

500ml clear glass bottle. 4.2% ABV. Poured a clear pale amber with light carbonation & frothy white head. Nice herbal citrus nose.A well balanced pale ale with expected hop bitterness a downbeat version of their Old Empire IPA. Rounded mouthfeel with long biotter finish. Pale ale is my favourite style and this is a nice example

500ml bottle from Morrisons. Another stripped filtered pasteurised beer. Some metallic hop , some lemon. Thin in mouth and then citric hop on the end. Dull.

Bottle. Golden with a dense white foam. Aromas are typical of a clear bottled Marstons - initially appears skunky with lots of caramel. Things settle down, though, to butter with citrus. Flavours are fairly rough grain with caramel and butter malts. Some citrus with a peppery feel on the palate. Quite dry with bitter grapefruit pith on the finish. Nothing to get feverish about.

What a good pint this made. Smooth and hoppy beer, so smooth you dont notice how well its dropping down or which pint you’re even on

High white head on a golden body. As a summer drink, it is very nice and lively. Hops and citrus fruits match very well and it is not too bitter. A very drinkable beer, and an experience I’d resume any time.

From a cask. Head was small and off white. Good lacing. Light golden colour didn’t look right on a bitter. Floral, hoppy aroma and a citrus and cardboard taste. Not nearly enough lasting bitterness.

Normally the Marstons clan have been a bit disappointing. This is not brilliant but it looks and smells very good. A good hit of noble English hops are evident and the bitterness and mouthfeel typically British. A good session beer I would think.
