Some maltiness but all round a very well balanced example of this style. Marstons continue to produce some wonderful bottled beers-llong may they continue to do so. dornoy (681), Lyngby, Denmark

Hops and citrus fruits match very well and it is not too bitter. A very drinkable beer, and an experience I’d resume any time. highlandlad (1265), Sydney, Australia
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 13, 2005 Marstons has set its sights on English sports fans with this "beer for football fans" and the release of Sweet Chariot, aimed at English rugby fans. (The English rugby anthem is ’Swing Low Sweet Chariot’ for reasons that no one can explain, other than it’s better than any homegrown songs). To emphasise the target market, Fever Pitch comes with an England flag and a football (soccer ball) on the label. Can’t see it selling too well outside England...! It pours a cloudy golden colour with a rocky 1.5cm white head that hangs around and laces well. Inviting fruity nose - pears and sweet malt. Medium bodied with some cookie-like malt and a little citrus before a big Fuggles and Golding hop finish. By no means the brewer’s best work but it’s a decent drop and far more successful than the England football team. (Bottle, Best Before 31/1/05) Papsoe (15091), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Very, very aromatic hoppy nose, extremely fruity and fresh. And the excellent hops leave their mark all the way through to the finish in this beer making this a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Nice hoppiness, light body. A football beer and a nice one to have while watching Chelsea-Liverpool in the CL. 270405 rauchbier (3002), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England

Pleasant fruity and citric hop aromas with some background chalky malt. Good solid hop flavours in the mouth with some grainy malt and lots of hop bitterness in the finish without getting too pushy. Good for a moderately low alcohol Pale Ale.

This is not brilliant but it looks and smells very good. A good hit of noble English hops are evident and the bitterness and mouthfeel typically British. A good session beer I would think.
