Things start off promisingly with the beer pouring a light amber with brisk carbonation, giving off a strong vanilla aroma. The problem is, that’s all there is to it. The vanilla notes utterly dominate the flavour making this beer a one-dimensional experience. The palate is pretty creamy, adding to the ’cream soda’ feeling that hughie mentions below. The ’heritage’ label irked me too as well. berkshirejohn (1832), Bracknell, Berkshire, England

Like shoestring I nearly poured it away, but persevered and found it got better. mountainforest (111), Edinburgh, Scotland

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 1, 2006 Poured from the bottle, a very clear amber with a little carbonation evident - only a few bubbles on top for a head. Very strong vanilla and fruit aroma. Taste fails a little, a find the vanilla just a little too sweet and the mouth feel is a bit fizzy. There is a smokiness as well, but there is a bitterness in the finish. I could see a few lager drinkers liking it though.
