Cask @ Crosse Keys ’Sporks, Gracechurch St. Clear gold with a forced white head. I found it very lagerish, grainy and metallic with pukey malt/card and sulphur in the aroma. Ok, fair enough, there were some slight grassy hops but not nearly enough to redeem it. Taste was pretty much the same and most certainly not my thing...

Handpulled cask at JDW Watford. Where’s the Marston’s aroma? The beer’s in good nick but this is so bland that it does not deserve description.

Cask, The Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Golden and orange with a small head. Aromas are spices oranges with oranges and biscuit malts. Flavours are dry and fruity with tea. Some citrus but a bit flat overall. Dry on the finish.

Cask at JDW, The Penny Black, Bicester, Oxon 12-04-08 The nose is quite seweragey which isn’t a great start, although this looks quite good warm golden with tiny thin white head. There is bitterness there but its a bit messy, quite mellow and merely ok.

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Gold with a thin cream head; grainy aroma; slightly sour and grainy taste with a touch of citrus and a short bitter finish. Rather ordinary.
