Commercial Description:
A hodgepodge of malts and hops made on the spot on brewday, and then left to its own devices. Very very tasty for little effort and will!

On tap at brewpub. Pours a murky, cloudy, orange brown color with a 2 finger tan head. Fair amount of lace rings the glass. Nose is malt, brown sugar & dark fruits. Medium bodied palate with a fair amount of carbonation. A mixed bag of flavor assaults the taste buds with this one. Dark fruits, caramelized brown sugar, misc spice. Its all in there. Its a confusing brew. Not unpleasant, but not real good either.

on tap-pours a rich retaining light tan head that laces and cloudy orange/brown color. Aroma is medium malt-caramel, yeast, medium/dark fruit. Taste is rich medium malt-caramel/anise, yeast, spice, medium/dark fruit, secondary metallic/earthy hops. Full side of medium body. Occasional. A Belgian Golden/Dubbel?

Cloudy sunset orange. Light off-white head. Duh! This smells and tastes like jelly beans. Sugary, caramelly, straightforward jelly bean. Not much else. Oh! You have the limey jelly bean, the orange jelly bean, all crushed together, several varieties, but it’s still a very sweet candy beer that felt more like a farce than a beer. Still, I must confess to a little addendum: It was also a bit spicy and surprisingly enough, medium bodied and with bitting bubbles.

In short: Liquid jelly bean served in a pint. Sickening
How: Tap at brewpub december 2007
The look: Almost clear redish-copper body topped by a little beige ring of foam
In long: Light caramel and light fruity notes are dominated by annoying candy spiciness, undesired mineral notes and crushed aspirins. A touch of plastic too. Somewhat sweet. The whole thing felt like a liquid jelly bean. Martha’s Pathetic Punishment.

My Bottom Line:
Cranberry fruitiness and abrasive alcohol chat throughout each sip until a supporting leafy hop bitterness appears. Somewhat sweet and lightly spicy, this is not the most cohesive or compelling strong ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the hazy red.
-The fruitiness blooms from the alliance of yeast and malt sugars.
-Carbonation is properly calculated to lighten up the slick body.
-The overall flavor profile is nearly balanced, but no flavor grouping takes control and few memorable moments are provided.

On tap at the brewpub.
