Commercial Description:
Not often do the owners of Martha's ask me to brew a particular style of beer. They let me make the beer decisions and only ask that I provide a variety of flavors for the drinking public. That's a no brainer. So when I was asked to make a Pumpkin beer this year, I was not particularly excited about the idea. From all I heard from other craft brewers who make this style, the word 'headache' with the word 'major' before it often came up. The upside, people go nuts for the stuff. So I figured I'd give it a go. It seems things worked out for me exactly as it has for my fellow brewers. Pumpkin is no fun to work with, but it has been a successful brew. 150 lbs. of pumpkin were used in this copper ale. A whiff of the fruit comes through in the nose along with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. The tough part about a pumkin beer is being able to bring out the flavor and aroma of pumpkin. It has a very sublte flavor that can easily be overpowered by spices. So I reigned in the spices, kept the body and malts light and let the jack-o-lantern come through. The spices add to the whole profile but do not overpower the delicate balance. Come and get it while it lasts! OG: 1.050 FG: 1.008 ABV: 5% IBU: 21

Copper in color with a large white head. Aroma is of faint spice, cinamon, nutmeg and pumpkin accents. Flavor is well balanced, allowing the pumpkin to come through and not overly spiced.
