Cask at GBBF. Black with a small tan head. Rather weak aroma with fruit, bacon smoke, and some roasted notes. Dryish and very smoked flavour with licorice notes.

Dec 11, 2009 Cask @ GBBF 2009. Pours a black color with no head. Has a roasted malty smoky aroma with hints of chocolate. Roasted malty smoky flavor with hints of chocolate. Has a roasted malty smoky finish with hints of chocolate in the aftertaste.

Alc. 5.8%. Clear dark brown black color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, beige head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, berry, smoke - ash, wood. Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090805]

Smoked aroma. Dark coloured smooth on the palate and strong in alcohol. Fruity and hoppy with a lasting burnt roast finish.

Oct 18, 2009 A Mes rate. Cask at GBBF.
Almost black with a decent beige head. Nice smoky porter with some good wooden notes and a lot more hoppage than I was expecting. The malt and hops combine well to give it a strong fruity character. Lasting bitter finish. Not really worthy of being classed as a smoked beer but nice enough all the same.

Sep 10, 2009 Poured from gravity cask into one-third pint glass. Wholesome pitch black body under a naked surface. Smoked, sweet malty to the nose added by grassy hops. Dark fruits in flavour quite well balanced with smoked malts leading to a hoppy bitter ending. Not enough bodied, a bit diluted, but still a joy to the palate (GBBF, 05.08.2009).
