hazy gold, fine white head, drippy lace,
sweet fruity Belgian candy aroma,
lots of sweet estery malt flavor, nice fruity character, warming, light spicyness is the only balance for the sweetness yet it is not overly sweet, hint of light bitterness in the finish, the spicey character grows as it warms and provides wonderful character

The aroma is milder. It contained notes of fruits, yeast and breadiness. I was hoping the aroma would pick up as it warmed, but it stayed kind of light. The taste was good. It was somewhat bready and slightly sweet. There were some fruits evident, noteable slight pineapple and banana. Also a slightly peppery finish. Nice. The aroma was sweet, tangy, yeasty and lightly fruity. The flavor was thick sweet sugar with a nice plum fruity element and a long, tangy, sugary finish. cheapdark (2016), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA

Ubiquitous pale yellow american lager color with a slight haze. The aroma of this is quite scary, strong and sweet. You know by smell you are going to get a big alky taste bud impact. The initial kick is hard, sweet and laid back all at the same time if that is possible. The developement of flavors is complex. Alky impact, then that numbs up the taste buds for the sweetness. Hides the initial alky bite quite well. A few of these and you will not pass a DUI checkpoint. I feel my head getting dizzy already. This is a very refined brew that deserves accolades. Continuing thru the session, the alcohol bite builds. Barely any carbonation. Fruity hints thoughout. After a while, the alky effect begins to take over. Very strong malty alky finish. Borders on uncivilized! Not quite as refined as Grimbergen Blonde or Chimay Blanche (White) but certainly on par with great beers like Tripel Karmeliet, Allagash Tripel Reserve and Victory Golden Monkey.

Sweet candy sugar and lemon nose, heavy sugary citrus smell and flavor. Yeast character is quite light, but overall it’s very good. Full of sweetness but then with a little bite of lemon juice and fluffy yogurt yeast flavor. Finish is lightly spicy and peppery, syrupy and sweet fruit and lemons and light yeast. For a second it even resembled a witbier. Good stuff. Nate (2540), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 29, 2007 From draught at Marzoni’s, then again from growler I brought home. Sweet honey and heather, some bubblegum and cotton candy. Light graininess and a bit of Belgian yeast funk. Some bit of jasmine or other greenery in there that I can’t quite decipher. Mild coriander. Cloudy golden pale, like a creamy butterscotch color, with mild foamy lacing head. Medium bodied with medium-soft carbonation. Alcohol warming, for sure. Starts sweet with honey and grain, cotton candy or candi sugar, melon. Yeasty chalky bitterness with some citrus rind and Beeman’s gum. Light herbal/orange oil bitterness at the finish with mild chalky after. Finish is just a tad too sweet buy in no way cloying. Very nice sipping tripel.
