Commercial Description:
This dark amber ale has a smooth malty start and finishes with a mild spiciness from the large amount of rye malt that was used in the brewing.

From growler. Rye bread aroma, musky malt, light coffee oils and a bit of butter. Some raw grain tea, too. Perhaps a bit oxidized, with cooked veggies. Dark brown clear with thin off-white head. Medium-light body with medium carbonation. Starts with grainy rye tea flavors, a dry nutty character but with buttery notes. Rye tannins and nutty bitterness. Mild hops at the end with a bit of sweetness.

Courtesy of Nate. Pours a deep copper with a 1 finger beige head. Has a decent sweet very malty aroma. A little bit buttery. Definite rye some toffee. The flavor is very weak for the strong aroma. The rye is very prominent. Dark fruit maltines and a very dry flavor. Pretty plain. Extremely light body.

Dark copper with a cenet, frothy off-white head. Smells like butta!! Uh-oh.. Some caraway, brown sugar, caramel, cardboard, and feet notes as well. Buttery, cooked vegetable taste with some rye and a bit of spicy, citric and piny hop notes. Some dark fruit aroma and flavors open as it warms a little. I feel bad giving low ratings to locals, but I feel even worse giving them a handicap. I love Marzoni’s, Bill brews great beer, but this one was just blah to me. Sorry.
