Dark opaque black in color, with no aura appearing around the edges of the glass...thick. Coffee, and roasty toasty malts on the nose. Bitter coffee flavor, dark chocolate, espresso, toasty malt, dry on the tongue. Decent stout. Naka (524), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 21, 2008 Sampled at beer night at the Coney. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and butterscotch. It is a complete black hole by the looks. THe flavor is creamy coffee caramel latte with a little molasses and some fruity characteristics. A decent thick body. Nothing too over the top but really tasty. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 17, 2008 I felt that this was the best of the marzonis brews I tried BY FAR. Pours a jet black color with a large amount of froathy browth head that stays. Aroma is roasted coffee and cream. Flavor and mouthfeel are very very creamy and smooth. Dry roasty flavor, slight coffee taste - like a slightly more bitter guiness. kramer (2406), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA May 7, 2008 On tap @ Duncansville. Pours a dark brown, almost black body with a wispy brown head. Nice roasty nose with a good bit of coffee. Great roasty and coffee flavor, with a burnt malt finish. A little bit watery in the mouthfeel with moderate soft carbonation. illinismitty (1790), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 1, 2008 Draft at Allison Park. Pours black with a quickly dissipating head. Faint aroma of dark roasted malts. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Flavor of dark roasted malts, molasses, and old coffee. Finish is dry, slightly thin, with a small hint of tangyness. Rather simple, but not offensive by any means. The assistant brewer was screwing around and filtered some through some coffee grounds, turning it into a fresh breakfast stout. It brought some over for me to dry and it was rather interesting. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Feb 18, 2008 (Duncansville) Small tan head with brown-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, coffee and cream. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee/roast, some cream, light burnt, chocolate. Creamy medium body, low carbonation. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Feb 4, 2008 Sampler at the Allison Park location, 02.03.08 (Super Bowl Sunday). Tar, tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, pine, caramel, anise. Flavor is the same with smoke and roasted nuts. Nice creamy, dry finish. Thus far, my favorite Marzoni’s beer.
