My first beer to try upon visiting the new Mash brewery. Thought I’d start with the light, all conquering cream ale yet, preconceptions aside, I actually found it to be the best of the brewhouses available brews. Pours a slightly hazy medium gold with fine intermittent carbonation raising up to a decent and lasting soapy white head that left good legs. Aroma was tainted by a slight diacetyl, slicked butter note that I know is not intended, and the brewer assures is just a teething problem to be cleaned up. Underneath is some gritty grain notes that make it bearable. Light in body but rather flavoursome and soft on the palate with just a prickle of carbonation. Smooth and dry pale malt flavours balance a nice low-key burst of tangy grapefruit mid-palate before a pleasantly fresh bitter hop swallow. Finish is dry, crisp and grassy with a fresh herbal hop note lingering on the tongue long afterwards. I quite liked this one, served a little cooler rather than chilled it would be a deadly session beer especially considering its modest ABV. Not bad!!!

Almost golden body but with a touch of copper, much better head poured and left rings of lacing but the head didn’t last the distance. Aroma is bit light on but mainly hops. Taste is like my homebrew Chico Cream Ale, it was initially a bit buttery but then some hops soon show up. Taste is quite good for a mid-strength brew.
