Draft at the brewery. Hazy yellow color with small head. Banana, sweet. Nothing special about this one. Fairly disappointed.

I just don’t get hefes. It’s that simple. My deviation from average goes 1 point in either direction. That said, the direction this hefe went was slightly down. Nothing special about it at all. Other than maybe less aroma, slightly flatter on the tongue and not as much flavor as normal. All not positive. I didn’t say negative, just not good or unique at all.

on tap-pours a white head and cloudy straw color. Aroma is banana, faint clove. Taste is banana, faint clove spicing, secondary wheat. OK effervescence.

Sampled at the brewpub. Hazy and opaque with a slick film top and a vaguely yeasty aroma. This drinks smoothly with a sweet fruit esther base, not quite as pronouced as tye prototypical banana, but nice. True to style, but somewhat restrained , light and fizzy-bodied, not as "chewy" as some hefeweizens. (#2803, 4/21/07)

From notes 7/14/03: Pours a hazy cloudy yellow, brighter than I expected. Minimal head on this one. Aromas float around the room. Very heavy on the banana, with the usual suspects of clove and some lemon as well. Zesty and peppery. Not a heavy mouthfeel by any stretch. Fairly well carbonated. Banana in the scent, the flavor, the aftertaste, and then it lingers on for a little while afterward.

Tap. Bubblegum, orange and apple aroma. Cloudy orange-amber with large head. Sweet peach-orange and wheat flavor - light body. Pretty good - on the sweet side and kind of weak. Would be great with more flavor.

Draught sample at the brewpub. Solid, still golden with a bit of lasting head, slight yeast apparency in the body....typical banana-clove nose, on the sweet and thick side with faint traces of sour wheat and some nice earthiness in the nose....very smooth, rather sweet but nicely balanced with an unsweetened applesauce character towards the finish, soft carbonation.....quite full, faintly grapy and lactic....a bit boring and simple by the end of the sample, but really pretty drinkable and pleasant for an American version of the style.
