Good carbonation. Grassy hops aroma with a bit of citrus and spices. Little bit of corriander in there also. Color is a slightly hazy golden orange. Well balanced. Fizzy in the mouth. Little sweetness for balance and then a big hops kick and bitterness. More spices. Quite spicy actually. Finishes creamy and bitter. A very good and spicy IPA. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 25, 2005 My bottle says "Hoppy Hour IPA". Hazy gold pour with big, white head. Aroma is huge hops, black pepper, florals, even some Brett. Tastes hoppy, with firm and solid malt backbone, fruit, and spicy floral elements. This one is just astounding. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 9, 2005 Labeled on the bottle as "Hoppy Hour IPA"
Pours a big fluffy head over a clear, orange/amber body.
Nice hop/malt aroma comes across as ripe citrus fruits and cotton candy sugar.
Big hop flavor too, well balanced with a good malt backing. Long bitter finish. Full bodied palate makes this one enjoyable. Bigsilky (322), Charleston, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Apr 9, 2005 Certainly over-carbonated. But with a steady hand and Imperial pint glass all can be overcome. I even put one in a Belgian goblet and was pleasantly suprised. This beer has perfect copper gold color and an amazing aroma. The hop almost has a boiled peanut flavor to me. Very nice, always good to see North Carolina breweries succeed. As far the carbonation goes, I believe they have just started to bottled beer, and I’ve found that it’s a common problem. donrajin (233), Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 17, 2005 Not a bad IPA, but has one hell of a head. It has a head for days and was slightly over carbonated to me. Hop flavor has a harhness to it, but not unpleasent. russnug (35), Erie, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 19, 2005 Huge head! Mega lace on the glass . Very medicinal front followed by a citrusy and bittersweet finish. Somewhat earthy yet extremely quaffable. The aroma smells like you are in the brewery during the brewing process. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 5, 2005 Now this is called the "Hoppy Hour IPA." Pours dark amber with copious amounts of head. Very hoppy aroma, with some hints of herbs. At first, the taste seemed more like an ESB. The hop flavor is not very strong compared to the immense hop bitterness. At first, I didn’t pay much attention, just writing the flavor off as a thin tasting ESB, but as it warmed up a little, the herbal background was very strong. It almost tasted like there was a Belgian yeast used. This beer was much more complex when it got a little warmer.
