Aromas lean toward malts, even to the point of being somewhat bubblegummy. Rich and malty to start, turning piney and bitter. Tasty little number and quite different. dhlesq (233), Thousand Oaks, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 12, 2005 Aroma of malt, peach, apricot, bubblegum, and noble hops. Appears a hazy sunburst color with a small creamy white head that stays and laces. Flavor is bitter, spicy, white pepper, grapefruit, with an underlying malt backbone that is again zapped at the finish with white pepper. Palate is moderately light and refreshing, though somewhat slick. Overall, this beer is white pepper over malt, and just a tad greater than the sum of its parts. My thanks to Jonathan3584 for this very tasty brew. JFURYCAT (791), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jul 5, 2005 This had a sweet fruity aroma and taste and it seemed laced with currant or some type of fruit. The finish isn’t the greatest and the beer seems like everything was thrown together. It wasn’t as bitter as IPAs I’m accustomed to either. Its definately worth a try. I got it at Chips in the Outer Banks of NC. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 1, 2005 Medium peach haze with one biggly big light beige top of tremendous height reaching way too far to the top of the glass before any real liquid is diplaced at the bottom. Takes a long while to fold and rockify itself to a milkshake bumped creamyness and many another pours from its simple 12oz mouth is needed before you get it all in. Crazy shelves of crunchy lace cling to the glass in ring styled layering.
Tender, mellow aroma of woodish hops that are dry and leafy. Slight grassyness and mixed unsalted nuttyness note very, very lighty as it meagers an attempt at making something more of itself at a warmer temp.
Taste is about the same. Slight roasty/toasty bready-like backing with a breeze of husked grainyness. Hops are not all that forward here, quite restrained and non-bitteredly abradingly with a middling of woodishness and brief slicing of citrus. Fades off in the finish with enough of a noticeable intent along a piney dryish realm and a slight caramel push.
Feel is close to medium, empty on the palate at times with a certain unexcited tone yet welcome tameness of wood toned hops and slight fluffy leafyness. Respectfully drier on the finish, which makes up for a the weak display otherwise.
This IPA is Ok to good, there’s worse, but there’s plenty better.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 28, 2005 Good name, but the I found the label to be a bit hideous. Dark brown/red body, mostly clear with a big head and good lacing. Aroma was sweet caramel with citrus peel. Taste was thick smooth malts - almost had a "fluffy" body. Long lingering grapefruit hop. Tasty, but I’d prefer it to be less thick and have more bite. Found at Chip’s, Milepost 6, OBX, June 2005 aracauna (2391), Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 28, 2005 Hazy copper with a large, stiff-foam head that is perhaps a little too big. Head is long lasting and chunks the sides of the glass. Hoppy aroma on top of sweet malt. In the flavor the malt takes on a candy-like flavor (horehound if I’m remembering what that tastes like correctly). The hops linger a bit on the tongue. Very fruity (lots of tropical fruits) IPA and pretty interesting. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 27, 2005 bottle-thanks to singlelensref for this one! pours deep orange appricot with a sudsy 1/2 inch head that was off white. Nice herbal, citric aroma of mangos, tangerine, pasionfruit, pineapple and oranges. I could smell this beer all day. This is my type of ipa aroma right here. flavors are very grapefruity-more piney/bitter than the aroma sugests, which is a cool suprise. nice dry bitter finish. a little light on the body, but in contrast, makes this beer very quaffable. i like the resiny bitterness on the finish-northern brewer is definately there. Ohh, and the bottle label is pretty funny.... irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 26, 2005 beer pours a hazy and over-carbonated orange-amber, with a huge fluffy white head which leaves pretty good lace. aroma is almost all hops, of the American persuasion - very fruity. light sweetness underneath. flavor is again mostly hops, with minimal presence from the malt. lots of IBUs in the finish, which are unfortunately a bit astrigent. not a bad beer, but a touch harsh in the hopping, and the malt bill seems to have been ignored in puttting this beer together.
