Cool label adds to the enjoyment. jasonwamsley (3), Norton, Virginia, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 14, 2005 I have really enjoyed this first glass. I’m a big fan of IPAs and I feel this is one to remember. The aroma is strong which I feel is good in an IPA. The mouthfeel is great and taste is wonderful. The beer is full of a wonderful hop bouquet. The beer had a nice head to it and the bitterness is great! Just like the label says this is a "Damn Good Beer." I too have had this experiece on several occassions (both on tap and bottled). There are apparently some inconsistencies in the kegging/bottling process. When this beer is good, it’s very good. When it’s bad, it’s very bad. I just bought a six-pack today (for some reason I keep going back hoping for a good batch) and it is very good. I’m back on the Hoppy Hour IPA bandwagon. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 25, 2005 My bottle says "Hoppy Hour IPA". Hazy gold pour with big, white head. Aroma is huge hops, black pepper, florals, even some Brett. Tastes hoppy, with firm and solid malt backbone, fruit, and spicy floral elements. This one is just astounding. 19641948 (491), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Pours a bright orange-copper color with a huge pillowy white head that plops and poofs away in patches. Huge lacing involved. Aromas are divinely hoppy. An earthy hop air, one where you can almost sense the soil the vines grew in. Citrus and floral in the scent as well. Tastes of that wonderful hop cone abound. Very floral and slightly grapefruity, with a balancing bitterness that keeps in check whatever malt that is trying to peek through. Medium mouthfeel. Wonderful aftertaste of earthy hops lingering. You palate is coated with hop resins and oils. More bitterness comes through as the beer warms, but it still is so terribly wonderful to drink.

Delightful, pungent, aroma of hops and more hops. Hops fill the room. Grapefruit, mint and pine come from the hops while apricot, peach and hot biscuits come from the malt.
This is one damn delicious India Pale Ale. This could have lasted the journey. The hops are strong, citrusy, flowery and fairly raw, rich and intense. Notes of pine sap, lemon, grapefruit and mint come about from the hops. But, what I really love about this beer is its big, massive and creamy malty backbone. It’s unique. Toasted malts, caramel corn, butter toffee and just the perfect ending of mixed nuts and honey. Damn.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 16, 2005 Rich, brown amber pour with thich, fluffy, rocky head. Sweet pineapple aroma with some grass. Rich and malty, this beer has quite the underlying sweetness. Fairly hoppy with the usual citric components. Some metal detracts, but a nice brew. Thanks Blackie!
