andrewboss (127), USA Sep 19, 2007 Tap... what an amazing beer! One of the best beers I’ve ever had. Great feel and finish. dEM1972 (53), , Illinois, USA Jul 5, 2008 You know you are drinking this because it wrestles your taste buds of the mouth. The taste is heavy, not too heavy, but you know that this is more of a sipping beer than gulping. It needs to be savoured. Does have the usual dark, roasted flavour the dark (Tmavy) beers have, but the simple strength of the beer washes it quickly away. ElGaucho56 (384), USA Nov 2, 2007 On draft @ an Irish pub just off Staromestke Namesti in Prague. Pours a deep garnet brown with sizable offwhite head into a tulip style glass. Nose of sweet rich malts, brown sugar, maple syrup, rich and syrupy body, roasty caramel on the palate, mild pleasant tartness towards the finish with minor bitterness. Alcohol is present and unusually strong for a czech beer. Quite a surprise, as I had no real idea what I was in for. MartinT (4497), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 27, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Cherry-filled chocolates morph into caramel in this slick and nourishing Czech Doppelbock.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam stays atop the copper-hued dark brown.
-Fruity tartness whispers by.
-After a bunch of quaffable Bohemian Pilseners, this may appear heftier than it actually is.
-Lightly toasted maltiness completes the complex grain bill.
-Some wooden hop bitterness attempts to dry out the back end.
