bozoNZ (360), Christchurch, New Zealand Mar 18, 2008 330ml bottle from / with Papsoe. Std NZ draught brown colour, good head. Muted sweet fruits aroma with a touch of grain and some alcohol warmth. Warm alcohol flavours, some malty/sugary type sweetness. Nothing more than high octane beer really. Like a sweet malty spirit. Intreguing that a 7.5% beer in a 330ml bottle can be only 1.3 standard drinks but maths was never my strongest subject.
donfardz64 (61), Wellington, New Zealand Jul 4, 2008 Bottle from the Matson’s brewery bar. My favourite of the matson’s range. Pours a lovely hazy ruby/amber. Strong aromas of honey, malt, vinous sweetness, much like that of a barley wine.
Big bitter start, can definately taste the higher alcohol content. beautiful malty bittersweetness, and goes down smooth. Papsoe (9980), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 19, 2008 (Bottle 33 cl) Slightly hazy amber golden with a frothy, off-white head leaving some lacework. Sweetish aroma of fruit and alcohol. Surprisingly light even watery body. Lightly sweet caramel notes but no real malt base in there. A little raw and crude hops in the finish. Terribly unbalanced. 190208
