Ruby, thick loose head. Chocolate malt aroma, with great whole leaf noble hops. Taste is well-balanced between rich roasty hops, sweet chocolate, burnt coffee, and noble hops. Very full but easy drinking. Reminiscent of some traditional three-thread porters in some ways.

Jan 18, 2008 Cask at the Bricklayer’s Arms, Putney, 16th Jan 08. Deep chestnut colour with with a lacy head. Aroma and flavpur both dominated by rich dark caramel and chocolate flavour coming through underneath. A hint of smoke too. Palate is smooth and rich. Nice stuff but I have to echo the previous rater and ask "where’s the fruit?"

Nov 12, 2007 Cask from the market porter. This is an old ale? Well in that case the wrong pump clip was on the handpull. Aroma is relitivly roasty, biscuity and richer malts, grassy hop. Taste was similarly roasty, hints at citrus fruit and a decnet amount of bitterness in the finish. So where is the tart fruit?

Oct 10, 2007 Cask @ GBBF 2007. Pours a dark amber color with an off-white head. Roasted malty caramel aroma. Roasted malty caramel flavor with some hints of coffee. Has a roasted malty finish.
