Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - Winter.
A Strong Bitter with a difference: brewed with mild ale malt to produce a darker and more full-bodied ale. It is rich with robust flavours of ripe fruits, caramel and roast malt that give way to a long, dry and well-rounded bitter finish. The aroma is a tempting mix of chocolate and blackcurrant notes provided by the combination of roast malt and English hops.

Cask. Dark amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, some dar kfruits, slight vinegar and malts. Flavour is very caramelly, sweet wooden and slightly roasted malts. Really toasted aftertaste.

Cask gravity at White Cliffs BF 2007. Ruby colour with lasting beige head. Nice choccy aroma. Bit of curry powder, well spice anyway. Roasted flavours in mouth. I really like the roasted grain flavour and texture. Dry finish. Quirky, but like most other people at the table, I liked it.

A Mes rate: Cask handpull at GBBF. Excellent chestnut colour with a slight head. Coffee and dark malt aroma with some delicate hops in the background. Awesome dark malty flavour with plenty of fruit and a beautiful bitter coffee finish. Superb mouthfeel. Certainly the best of this style that I have had.

Cask from the market porter. This is an old ale? Well in that case the wrong pump clip was on the handpull. Aroma is relitivly roasty, biscuity and richer malts, grassy hop. Taste was similarly roasty, hints at citrus fruit and a decnet amount of bitterness in the finish. So where is the tart fruit?
