Commercial Description:
India Pale Ale was developed in Burton, England, as a "Super-Premium" hoppy pale ale around 1800. The extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style developed a following worldwide. Its flavor begins with a smooth, malty creaminess followed with a big burst of dry-hop flavor from English Kent Golding Hops. It then finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness.

In a can from O’Briens. Pours a hazy amber color with a foamy off-white head. Nice juicy citrus hop aroma, some toasty and caramel malts, along with floral notes. Pleasant American (mostly West Coast) IPA character, solid malt backbone supports lots of c-hop flavors of citrus and evergreen with a light spiciness - quite nice and somewhat unexpected from this Hawaiian canned brew. Medium body with creamy smooth carbonation.

Bottle with a big thanks to KieferUGA, who procured this from a trade. Aroma was good with a nice amount of citrus and grapefruit with a good caramel base. Flavor was balanced with a nice caramell backbone. Bitterness had a good amount of bitterness. Really good for the style and glad that I was lucky enough to have this.

12 oz can from bevmo. Pours a copper color with a big sudsy off white head that had good retention and plenty of lacing. The aroma is strong and hoppy with citrus and pine. Really good nose. The taste is hoppy, smooth caramel, sweet ripe peaches, a bit of vanilla and toffee malts. The mouthfeel is smooth and malty. The finish is short and sweet. Overall: This is one hell of an IPA, and it comes from a can.

12oz can. Poured aggressively with glugs, where’s the vent? Pours dark orange with a moderate sized, fizzy head, decent retention, specks of lace. Smells pretty awesome, very hoppy. Dark citrusy, somewhat bitter, somehwhat sweet, slightly metallic. Tastes of big, caramelly, earthy hops. Starts bitter, finishes sweet. Medium body, good carbonation.

12oz. can. Big, citric hop aroma with notes of pine, grapefruit and orange rind dominating, along with some lighter, gentler toasty malts and floral sweetness in the background. Hazy light-medium amber color with a lasting, fine, uneven head. Flavor is likewise very strongly hoppy and bitter throughout with a far lighter degree of toasted caramel and honeyish malt present, finishing with strong, juicy grapefruit and fresh pine as well. Resinous, oily and relatively smooth palate, body is medium-full. I am almost surprised at how hopped up this is, for some reason. Certainly not complaining, though, mind you...
